With the recent news of the earthquake in Haiti, many are wondering how to help support relief efforts. One of the biochar community members, Nat Mulcahy of World Stoves, is in Haiti producing and distributing biochar stoves so people can cook and have safe drinking water in partnership with International Lifeline Fund and a private Haitian enterprise called HSSA Energy and Biomass (HSSA). According to Nat, he got a 60 ton donation of wood pellets, organized the logistics and supplies, sheet metal, plasma torches, large cranes, the use of a dock, translators & illustrators for a manual in Creole. He writes: "that people are burning their furniture as fuel right now and that it is not clear how long even that can last."
