Universiti Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering Technology

Universiti Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering Technology, Environmental Engineering Technology Department UniKL MICET  Lot 1988 Taboh Naning  78000 Alor Gajah  Melaka, Malaysia

The group at UniKL is lead by Dr Robert Bachmann and has been working on physico-chemical characterization of fresh and charred biomass since 2006--first for application in wastewater treatment and subsequently for applications to soil.

They participate in collaborative projects and conduct in-house research on:

  • production and use of biochar for soil quality improvement,
  • use of biochar for soil C sequestration,
  • use of biochar for soil remediation, and
  • characterization of biochar.

The group hosted its first biochar workshop in December 2009 and a second in March 2010.
